JAN. 2009
58th Annual Home Show Update - Barbara Miller and John Bunge of Iowa Show Productions stopped by to give us an update on the planning for the Home Show. Barb indicated the biggest change this year is
shortening the show from 4 to 3 days. There will be no Thursday night session this year.
The dates are February 13th, 14th & 15th. Our work will start with the movein on Wednesday, Feb. 11th and will end with the moveout on Monday, Feb. 16th.
For the new members, the Home Show is our major fund-raiser. The Club actually owns the Show and hires Barb and John to produce it for us. So we need lots of volunteers to help with managing the set-up and tear-down activities as well as selling and collecting tickets.
Barb indicted the show will have the same format as in the past in terms of seminars, advertising, etc. Barb passed out admission discount coupons that will be available at several area businesses. Members are encouraged to distribute them too.
John Bunge commented briefly that the slowing economy is affecting local shows somewhat and we will likely see some of that at our show.
