Plans are being finalized for the District Convention to be held June 4-6, 2009 in Waterloo, Iowa at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center. The Waterloo Exchange Club is excited about hosting the upcoming convention and encourages EVERYONE to attend. Organizers believe you will leave re-energized and renewed in your commitment to Exchange. If you are unable to attend the convention, feel free to attend the Thursday evening event or Sunday Open House Brunch. For planning purposes, submit number attending the Thursday evening or Bruch events on the registration form. Reminder: the District will pay the registration for two individuals from each club to attend the convention. National President, Floyd Culver, is scheduled to attend our convention. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Fellow Heartland District Exchangites,

It is hard to believe that we are three quarters of the way through the year. Many of our goals have not been reached. There is still time to reach these goals and make a difference. Many thanks go out to all who have recruited new members.

Stand Up America and Say the Pledge, our 90-day trial membership program, ends March 31. This has become Exchange’s most successful membership recruitment program. If every Exchange Club member recruits just one new member, we would double in size. There is still time to get this accomplished.

It is, also, that time of the year when we prepare for the Heartland District Convention. The convention will be held in Waterloo, IA on June 4, 5 & 6, 2009 and is hosted by the Waterloo Exchange Club. The registration material and hotel information are included with this bulletin. The convention committee has been working hard and have put together a great agenda for both educational and social activities. I encourage everyone to attend for the following reasons:

1. Meet new Exchangites from our District.
2. Reconnect with friends from past conventions.
3. Listen to and exchange ideas on club programs and     activities.
4. Learn more about the National Convention.
5. Experience what the Waterloo area has to offer.
6. Have fun

I will put a plug in for the National Convention which will be held in Jacksonville, FL this year. The dates for this convention are July 15-18, 2009. Registration and hotel information will be in our National magazine. DeLon & I attended the mid-winter conference and found the accommodations, friendliness and food to be excellent. Please consider attending.

I want to thank everyone for all the support that you have given me this year. It is amazing how each of our clubs is making such a positive difference in their communities. It has been a very rewarding experience that I have enjoyed.

Thanks for all that you do for Exchange. See you in Waterloo.
